1b85dff5f0 intel_iommu: Take locks when looking for and creating address spaces
vtd_find_add_as can be called by multiple threads which leads to a race
condition. Taking the IOMMU lock ensures we avoid such a race.
Moreover we also need to take the bql to avoid an assert to fail in
memory_region_add_subregion_overlap when actually allocating a new
address space.

2aaf48bcf2 hw/i386/intel-iommu: Migrate to 3-phase reset
Currently the IOMMU may be reset before the devices
it protects. For example this happens with virtio devices
but also with VFIO devices. In this latter case this
produces spurious translation faults on host.

Let's use 3-phase reset mechanism and reset the IOMMU on
exit phase after all DMA capable devices have been reset
on 'enter' or 'hold' phase.

d9d32478ed intel_iommu: Introduce a property to control FS1GP cap bit setting
This gives user flexibility to turn off FS1GP for debug purpose.

It is also useful for future nesting feature. When host IOMMU doesn't

aa68a9fbdb intel_iommu: Introduce a property x-flts for stage-1 translation
Intel VT-d 3.0 introduces scalable mode, and it has a bunch of capabilities
related to scalable mode translation, thus there are multiple combinations.

This vIOMMU implementation wants to simplify it with a new property "x-flts".
When turned on in scalable mode, stage-1 translation is supported. When turned
on in legacy mode, throw out error.

With stage-1 translation support exposed to user, also accurate the pasid entry
check in vtd_pe_type_check().

1ab93575bd intel_iommu: piotlb invalidation should notify unmap
This is used by some emulated devices which caches address
translation result. When piotlb invalidation issued in guest,
those caches should be refreshed.

There is already a similar implementation in iotlb invalidation.
So update vtd_iotlb_page_invalidate_notify() to make it work
also for piotlb invalidation.

For device that does not implement ATS capability or disable
it but still caches the translation result, it is better to
implement ATS cap or enable it if there is need to cache the
translation result.

16d4e418e9 intel_iommu: Flush stage-1 cache in iotlb invalidation
According to spec, Page-Selective-within-Domain Invalidation (11b):

1. IOTLB entries caching second-stage mappings (PGTT=010b) or pass-through
(PGTT=100b) mappings associated with the specified domain-id and the
input-address range are invalidated.
2. IOTLB entries caching first-stage (PGTT=001b) or nested (PGTT=011b)
mapping associated with specified domain-id are invalidated.

So per spec definition the Page-Selective-within-Domain Invalidation
needs to flush first stage and nested cached IOTLB entries as well.

We don't support nested yet and pass-through mapping is never cached,
so what in iotlb cache are only first-stage and second-stage mappings.

Add a tag pgtt in VTDIOTLBEntry to mark PGTT type of the mapping and
invalidate entries based on PGTT type.

096d96e7be intel_iommu: Add missed reserved bit check for IEC descriptor
IEC descriptor is 128-bit invalidation descriptor, must be padded with

8e761fb61c intel_iommu: Add missed sanity check for 256-bit invalidation queue
According to VTD spec, a 256-bit descriptor will result in an invalid
descriptor error if submitted in an IQ that is setup to provide hardware
with 128-bit descriptors (IQA_REG.DW=0). Meanwhile, there are old inv desc
types (e.g. iotlb_inv_desc) that can be either 128bits or 256bits. If a
128-bit version of this descriptor is submitted into an IQ that is setup
to provide hardware with 256-bit descriptors will also result in an invalid
descriptor error.

The 2nd will be captured by the tail register update. So we only need to
focus on the 1st.

Because the reserved bit check between different types of invalidation desc
are common, so introduce a common function vtd_inv_desc_reserved_check()
to do all the checks and pass the differences as parameters.

With this change, need to replace error_report_once() call with error_report()
to catch different call sites. This isn't an issue as error_report_once()
here is mainly used to help debug guest error, but it only dumps once in
qemu life cycle and doesn't help much, we need error_report() instead.

6ce12bd297 intel_iommu: Introduce property "stale-tm" to control Transient Mapping (TM) field
VT-d spec removed Transient Mapping (TM) field from second-level page-tables
and treat the field as Reserved(0) since revision 3.2.

Changing the field as reserved(0) will break backward compatibility, so
introduce a property "stale-tm" to allow user to control the setting.

Use pc_compat_9_1 to handle the compatibility for machines before 9.2 which
allow guest to set the field. Starting from 9.2, this field is reserved(0)
by default to match spec. Of course, user can force it on command line.

This doesn't impact function of vIOMMU as there was no logic to emulate
Transient Mapping.

663168943d intel_iommu: Fix invalidation descriptor type field
According to spec, invalidation descriptor type is 7bits which is
concatenation of bits[11:9] and bits[3:0] of invalidation descriptor.

Currently we only pick bits[3:0] as the invalidation type and treat
bits[11:9] as reserved zero. This is not a problem for now as bits[11:9]
is zero for all current invalidation types. But it will break if newer
type occupies bits[11:9].

Fix it by taking bits[11:9] into type and make reserved bits check accurate.

515457757f intel_iommu: Fix for IQA reg read dropped DW field
If VT-D hardware supports scalable mode, Linux will set the IQA DW field
(bit11). In qemu, the vtd_mem_write and vtd_update_iq_dw set DW field well.
However, vtd_mem_read the DW field wrong because "& VTD_IQA_QS" dropped the
value of DW.
Replace "&VTD_IQA_QS" with "& (VTD_IQA_QS | VTD_IQA_DW_MASK)" could save
the DW field.

Test patch as below:

config the "x-scalable-mode" option:
"-device intel-iommu,caching-mode=on,x-scalable-mode=on,aw-bits=48"

After Linux OS boot, check the IQA_REG DW Field by usage 1 or 2:

1. IOMMU_DEBUGFS:
Before fix:
cat /sys/kernel/debug/iommu/intel/iommu_regset |grep IQA
IQA 0x90 0x00000001001da001

After fix:
cat /sys/kernel/debug/iommu/intel/iommu_regset |grep IQA
IQA 0x90 0x00000001001da801

Check DW field(bit11) is 1.

2. devmem2 read the IQA_REG (offset 0x90):
Before fix:
devmem2 0xfed90090
/dev/mem opened.
Memory mapped at address 0x7f72c795b000.
Value at address 0xFED90090 (0x7f72c795b090): 0x1DA001

bb3a23d5b0 intel_iommu: make type match
The 'level' field in vtd_iotlb_key is an unsigned integer.
We don't need to store level as an int in vtd_lookup_iotlb.

This is not an issue by itself, but using unsigned here seems cleaner.

195801d700 system/cpus: rename qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() to bql_lock()
The Big QEMU Lock (BQL) has many names and they are confusing. The
actual QemuMutex variable is called qemu_global_mutex but it's commonly
referred to as the BQL in discussions and some code comments. The
locking APIs, however, are called qemu_mutex_lock_iothread() and
qemu_mutex_unlock_iothread().

The "iothread" name is historic and comes from when the main thread was
split into into KVM vcpu threads and the "iothread" (now called the main
loop thread). I have contributed to the confusion myself by introducing
a separate --object iothread, a separate concept unrelated to the BQL.

The "iothread" name is no longer appropriate for the BQL. Rename the
locking APIs to:
- void bql_lock(void)
- void bql_unlock(void)
- bool bql_locked(void)

There are more APIs with "iothread" in their names. Subsequent patches
will rename them. There are also comments and documentation that will be
updated in later patches.

212c5fe191 hw/i386/intel_iommu: vtd_slpte_nonzero_rsvd(): assert no overflow
We support only 3- and 4-level page-tables, which is firstly checked in
vtd_decide_config(), then setup in vtd_init(). Than level fields are
checked by vtd_is_level_supported().

So here we can't have level out from 1..4 inclusive range. Let's assert
it. That also explains Coverity that we are not going to overflow the
array.

ba7d12eb8c hw/pci: modify pci_setup_iommu() to set PCIIOMMUOps
This patch modifies pci_setup_iommu() to set PCIIOMMUOps
instead of setting PCIIOMMUFunc. PCIIOMMUFunc is used to
get an address space for a PCI device in vendor specific
way. The PCIIOMMUOps still offers this functionality. But
using PCIIOMMUOps leaves space to add more iommu related
vendor specific operations.
